President Donald Trump has reportedly ordered airstrikes that killed 74 terrorist leaders planning attacks against the United States, according to national security adviser Mike Waltz. Among those killed were leaders from al-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab, and ISIS, Waltz said, adding that none of the individuals were targeted by the Biden administration.
According to U.S. military and intelligence officials, some of the high-profile strikes have taken out the number two global leader of ISIS, Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifai, 36 fighters and leaders of Al-Shabaab in Somalia, the senior military leader of an Al-Qaeda affiliate, and Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, an Islamic State boss operating out of Syria.
Trump is increasing U.S. military forces in the Middle East to enhance defenses, as he aims for stability in the region after recent attacks.
